PORSCHE 964 CARRERA: A TIMELESS ICON

The Porsche 964 Carrera 2 represents one of the most fascinating evolutions of the historic 911, combining classic design with significant technical innovations. Produced from 1989 to 1994, the 964 marked a turning point in the 911 lineup, introducing multi-link rear suspension, power steering, and standard ABS while maintaining the philosophy of rear-wheel drive in the Carrera 2 versions.

HISTORY AND DESIGN

The Porsche 964 was introduced as the first modern 911, featuring lines that recalled previous generations but with improved aerodynamics thanks to integrated bumpers and a retractable rear spoiler.

Under the hood, the classic 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivered 250 HP, providing remarkable performance for its time. The Carrera 2 version, with its rear-wheel drive, was appreciated by enthusiasts for the purity of its driving experience compared to the more complex all-wheel-drive Carrera 4.

DRIVING IMPRESSIONS

The 964 Carrera 2 offers an exhilarating driving experience, with an analog feel that is now rare in modern sports cars. The five-speed manual transmission enhances driving pleasure, while the lightweight design and balanced weight distribution provide excellent cornering response. Despite its sporty characteristics, it is a car that can also be used for longer journeys, ensuring good comfort thanks to Porsche's build quality.

For enthusiasts looking for an authentic example, we offer for sale a Porsche 964 Carrera 2 chassis n. #WPOZZZ96ZMS453150. This unit comes in a refined Grand Prix White (pastel) exterior with black leather interior and the must-go-for "Cup" options, which comprise wheels, mirrors, and exhaust. It has covered 116.601 km from new and it is registered in Italy featuring a "Milan" white Italian numberplate, with a history of three owners from new, of which one German and two Italians.

The car is in good shape, although it requires some maintenance: minor paint touch-ups, an air conditioning system revision, and a battery replacement. The dashboard, as many authentic 911s of this era, shows minor signs of wear due to sun exposure, while the wheels have little scratches here and there. However, the tires are in excellent condition, and the last service was carried out about five years ago by the renowned Pentacar Racing workshop in Colico (LC), including a complete fluid replacement, brake pads, engine mounts, and tires.

Since then, this 911 has covered less than 5.000 km being used only for a road trip through the Swiss Alps to Slovenia and for attending some car events such as "Nautilus" by Motoring Attitude at Lake Como or the notorious Sunday car gathering in Piazza Affari. With a five-speed manual transmission and mechanics that enhance pure driving pleasure, this 964 Carrera 2 represents one of the last true analog 911s, ready to return to the road in the hands of a true driving enthusiast.
